本册教材是"国际合作综合英语教学实验系列用书"第二册的下册（2B），适用于实验班二年级下学期。在过去数年实验中，我们日益感受到系统地编制一套能充分体现实验理念的教材至关重要。本册用书正式我们根据六年来的实验成果及多种实验教材编写经验，历经一年的时间，数易其稿而成。 作为"综合英语教学实验"的专门用书，本册秉承实验宗旨，不过于注重词汇背记，而把培养学生语言能力放在第一位。通过创编相关活动，扩大学生词汇量，学生能够在相关情境下，比较自由地表达自己的思想；更不强调机械的语法操练，而是注重轻松愉悦、生动活泼的语言习得过程。本册教材强调全英教学，并根据目前儿童语言形成的需要设定相应的内容和难度，以保证实验目标的实现，这是其他一般教材所代替不了的。根据我们的设计，学生学完本册（2B）后，学生的词汇量将达到1800以上。
