描述
提高在校大学生的英语听说水平，不仅仅是大学英语教学的一项主要内容，同时还是提高学生交际能力的主要途径。但是出于种种原因，在校大学生的英语听说水平成为制约学生语言交际能力提高的瓶颈。本册书的编者认为，听与说是提高英语听说水平不可分割的有机整体，外语的学习与母语的学习过程是有区别的。外语的学习是在缺少真实的语言环境中进行的，大脑中缺乏语音材料的储存，所以在有些情况下不能正确地读出单词的发音，因而当正确的读音进入大脑后，不能判断出语音所承载的意义，影响了交际水平的提高。有时学生可以正确地说出单词的发音，但是不能理解一个完整的句子。
